Delhi OMG

Book Name: DELHI OMG!!

Author Name: VINOD NAIR

Book is about: Delhi OMG is all about the glimpses of this city, how the city takes more from you and give very less to you. It's all in a critical view of Delhi how Delhi is a hub for most of the people and one cannot survive in this city easily. I picked this one in 50 Rs from Daryaganj market,  because behind this book there were views about prostitutes so I thought this book is about them. But the book was a guide to local people telling how our city has become a rash place where we all have become some monsters and we all are running towards something.

What I Liked the most: What I liked most about this book was how the author has researched a lot about the city, from going to Garrington Barriston road to going to DLF Place cyber city. The author has tried to cover all parts of the city and all trends that go through this. The book starts from old golden times of school that people used to experience during the 90s era, that we can rarely see today. After that, the book unfolds itself how from living to Netaji Nagar in a crowded place in a government employee flat. As the protagonist's father retires from his job and goes back to his own city. The problem in the city starts to engulf him.  In between the pages, the author has tried to show the true colours of the city to the readers. The main backbone that goes through the book is Maximum for Minimum…… which is somewhere true as we all want to extract the maximum of anything in a minimum amount. Some lessons are quite relatable as we all might have done those things somewhere or we might have seen them happening somewhere.

What I Disliked the most: What I disliked the most about the book was how the author has forgotten to show other colours of Delhi apart from the GB ROAD,  Connaught Place, Angry Uncles and Antis, Abusive Language. There is nothing good about the city except for putting between the lines the fact that only street food is good in Delhi. This somewhere shows that the author hasn’t done groundbreaking research for the book as small articles available on the internet also tell those facts. Only the bad side of the city is mostly portrayed in the book.  The book tries to complete itself by the help of Sexual side of the city. Most episodes are covered in the light of GB ROAD, or by the Sexual activity that occurs all around the city.  As doing Sex is not permitted in the city the author has tried to take readers attention towards that problem of the city.  How people have to make petty arrangements for getting in the act of intercourse. Somewhere this shows that the city is all about rash and abuse done by higher class people towards lower class people. But in reality, not everyone just throws a bunch of random abuse to some beggar going on the road.  Also, many things have changed after the book came out as the edition if of 2012.

What type of people should read this: I will suggest now no one should read this as the book is way too old and nothing has remained the same from then.  But if you are really willing to read than people who are really Delhi fanatics should read this as it will be fun for them also if you want to know more about the city then you can read in it.
